Muhammad Ali Library
Public library are built across the world. These Library were established to build social connections between the community. It not only fulfilled the need of knowledge providing and culture gathering. But over the years the essence of the public libraries have been eroded from the society.
Many libraries just look like an old damage infrastructure, some are being used as marriage hall, books are covered in dust which portrays just same for the public libraries.
One of them is Mohammed Ali Library, one of the oldest libraries in Kolkata, known for very rare urdu collections. Mohammad Ali Library was established in 1930 during the demise year of Muhammad Ali Jauhar who was an Indian Muslim activist, prominent member of the All India Muslim League, journalist and poet, and a leading figure of the Khilafat movement.
But now the library has lost its beauty and it’s important has the local people are unaware about the condition. And they even lack the knowledge of why we should save these libraries.
